zoom poker

man, zoom poker is pretty fun. since its almost impossible to have player histories or to use any sort of poker statistics tracker, my entire zoom game is just centred around making the correct fundamental poker decisions by treating each villian as a standard player unless i have any reason to believe otherwise... for example i tend to treat every single openlimper as a noob lol (ok actually, this is arguably a correct assumption hahaha)

anyway, its really quite funshit to do when im in the office and i have nothing else to clear.

the weekend is coming real soon... cant wait to embark on some massive multitabling this weekend to keep up my volume for june, hehehehe. will prolly update my weekend's progress soon!

Wednesday 13 June 2012

uploading 2 hands today. both hands played from the office (lol). im not a fucking degen slack dog in the office lah, but sometimes i have nothing else to do so i play a bit of stars lor.

the second hand is a zoom poker hand... yes i play zoom poker in the office now cos it allows me to play more hands on less tables. its all about volume! lol

commentary in italics, as usual.

Hero (BTN): $2.45
SB: $5.57
BB: $5.00
UTG: $5.54
CO: $1.75

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero is BTN with A of spades A of clubs
UTG raises to $0.08, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.20, 2 folds, UTG calls $0.12

standard 3bet, standard call. villians got a standard TAG image and doesnt stray too far out of line so i range him on (AJ+, KQ, pocket pairs 88+)

Flop: ($0.43) K of hearts 3 of diamonds 8 of hearts (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $0.30, UTG calls $0.30

i make a big cbet because of the flush draw. cb he calls.

Turn: ($1.03) T of hearts (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $1, UTG raises to $2, Hero calls $0.95 all in

flush hits and i pot it (at the same time committing myself). i dont wanna get owned by a random Ace of hearts if a 4th heart falls so i dont mind getting it in on the turn la. then this fucker check-raises me which is a bad play because what the fuck is he repping other than a flush? i reason that the preflop+ flop action gives him a roughly 50-50 chance of having a flush or a toppairtopkicker type hand so i call (anyway im already committed la)

River: ($4.93) A of diamonds (2 players - 1 is all in)

Final Pot: $4.93
Hero shows A of spades A of clubs (three of a kind, Aces)
UTG shows K of clubs Q of spades (a pair of Kings)
Hero wins $4.76
(Rake: $0.17)

this is zoom poker. lol..... zoom poker, fucking headache maniac fish fest but i fucking love it more and more everyday. great way to earn VPPs too! i dont quite know what i was doing in this hand la, its fucking mad play... maybe i sensed weakness and went for it, or maybe i just got lucky. prolly lucky lah.

PokerStars Zoom No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (6 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

saw flop | saw showdown

Button ($2.30)
Hero (SB) ($1.67)
BB ($2.45)
UTG ($2.35)
MP ($1.31)
CO ($3.11)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 10, 9
UTG calls $0.02, MP bets $0.06, CO calls $0.06, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.17, 2 folds, MP calls $0.11, CO calls $0.11

these 2 fuckers call my small blind 3bet what the fuck?! isolation fail. also, i forgot that these zoom fuckers are prolly too noob to realise how much strength im repping with a 3bet from SB.

Flop: ($0.55) 7, J, 3 (3 players)
Hero bets $0.30, MP calls $0.30, CO calls $0.30

again they call me here and im wondering what the fuck they could have (AJ? slowplaying QQ+? its probably not QQ+ cos they'd want to reraise here in lieu of the multiway action. even AJ might reraise here.)

Turn: ($1.45) 10 (3 players)
Hero bets $0.45, MP raises to $0.84 (All-In), CO raises to $1.29, Hero calls $0.75 (All-In)

im so full of shit, i bet my 2nd best pair and accidentally commit everyone. hahahaha fuck. what the fuck am i doing? lol

River: ($4.69) 4 (3 players, 2 all-in)

Total pot: $4.69 | Rake: $0.16
Main pot: $3.97 between Hero, MP and CO, won by Hero
Side pot 1: $0.72 between Hero and CO, won by Hero

Results:
Hero had 10, 9 (one pair, tens).
MP mucked K, Q (high card, King).
CO mucked 5, 7 (one pair, sevens).
Outcome: Hero won $4.53

i think im lucky. but they also played their hands so badly.... any preflop or flop reraise would likely have made everyone else fuck off (cos we all have weak hands) and this pot wouldnt even get to showdown.

...........

started my internship yesterday... it seems that im gonna be fucking tired every day when i get home from work so i might not be as alert for online poker as i usually am. sigh. didnt grind for 2 days already, kinda miss clicking my mouse to win and lose $0.50.

in any case, i need to find a way around this soon la because i really want to keep up a good volume for the rest of the month to earn VPPs and $0.50 profits. gonna try and do 3000 - 5000 hands when i get home from work today.

in other news.... here's what huiqi has to say about my poker blog:

hq: you are Hero ah?

i suck at life poker

today i affirmed yet again that i suck at life poker. i feel so sick just thinking about the suckouts and bad rivers that im just gonna quit it for good. anyway, who needs life poker when i have stars?

currently running $10 below-EV for the weekend, its a lot if u consider that i fucking only made $18. lol ohwells, variance is my friend.

bluffs/ fancy plays

im not generally a fan of fancy plays at the microstakes... i believe that most bluffs are placed in very marginal situations where you cannot say with certainty that the villian will fold - because microstakes players suck at folding anyway.

but if im in the mood for some thrill and if the situation is right - i daresay i'd like to try a bluff or 2. here's some factors to look out for before bluffing:

- the scare cards on the table that you are barrelling to represent must fit into the story that you're telling (i.e you have to be able to rep some kind of strong holdings with your perceived range)

- villian is capable of folding (lookout for high fold% on various streets, low WTSD%, cbet% high on flop but low on turn etc). basically, villian must not be a fish la, because fish call too much. i typically only bluff regs lol.

- decent table image. this is fucking important!! if you've been caught bluffing before, or if you generally play way too many hands, then villians will give you less credit and call you down more often. hence, i think that ceteris paribus, the tighter you are the better your chances of bluff success (similarly, the tighter you are, the more credit your opponents will give you... and the less you get paid off on your monster hands)

- semi-bluffs are a lot cooler than pure bluffs. im currently toying with the idea of a semi-bluff turn shove with the correct odds+outs because all these pros seem to say its +EV in the right situation

having said all that, im probably wrong about bluffing and i really dont bluff very often... only when the situation comes along. in fact, im trying to tweak my game to not bluff AT ALL except for the semi-bluff. i dont know what inspired me to create this post in the first place, IMO i suck at bluffing and i should stop doing it. lol

till next time

Hand No. 1 - villian opens pretty tight from the BB and folds a lot on the turn/river. ideal situation for me to try a little river bluff. in retrospect i found this to be quite a risky play... but i was certain that villian had some kind broadway/blackjack type hand and i that could get away with repping an 8

SB checks, BB bets $0.10, Hero calls $0.10, SB folds

Final Pot: $0.76
Hero mucks K of diamonds T of hearts
Hero wins $0.73
(Rake: $0.03)

Hand No. 2 - villian is a reg that i play with quite often. tight as hell and folds too much - more weaktight than TAG. this is a BvB situation and because i know this cheebye... i know that my flop check accidentally (yes, i accidentally checked) induced him to buy pot. then he calls my check-raise and scares me a bit but by the river there's so much bullshit on the table that fits my range (flush draw hits, Q makes trips, etc) and he's a tight pussy and folds a lot so i make him release it.

i realise that i shouldn't be using real usernames on a public blog, so from now on all hand histories will be posted anonymously DeucesCracked stylez hooooooooo

loose gayboy 4bets me with JK- hahaha. thankfully he bets too small on the turn giving me decent odds for a call against his range (pocket 10's+, AQ+, random broadway type) with my gutshot nut straight draw + NUT TOP PAIR DRAW lolz

the loose cheebye 4bets me preflop, im scared of pocket pairs + AKs

Flop: ($0.82) 2 of spades 9 of spades Q of diamonds (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG checks

he checks behind into a 3-way pot on a wet board with the straight and flush draws... no cbet from him as the preflop aggressor so i rule out AA KK haha (he could still be playing (pocket pairs up to QQ which he'll slowplay on the flop because everyone slowplays their flopped sets now)

Turn: ($0.82) T of hearts (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets $0.20, Hero calls $0.20, BB calls $0.20

he leads out... and its such a small bet like he wants value. thankfully, he gives me good value to call too!

River: ($1.42) J of clubs (3 players)
Hero bets $1, BB folds, UTG raises to $1.86 all in, Hero calls $0.86

i hit the tyco straight and its easy to play with the nuts against someone who is repping a strong hand cos he's calling your shove or shoving u himself $_$

Final Pot: $5.14
Hero shows A of hearts K of diamonds (a straight, Ten to Ace)
